Draft Route 236 Corridor Study and Walking-Bicycling Priorities – Public Information Meeting

Tuesday, September 28, 4:00pm to 6:00pm
Rte 236 Corridor Study

The Town of Eliot invites you to attend a Public Information Meeting to learn about the Draft Route 236 Corridor Study, conducted in partnership with Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission (SMPDC), and the Town’s draft report “Improving Conditions for People to Walk and Bike in Eliot”. The meeting will take place from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Town Hall (1333 State Rd.), with a remote (Zoom) option.

The Draft Route 236 Corridor Study has evaluated traffic and safety data and existing conditions along Route 236 from Beech Rd. to Route 101 (Dover Rd./Goodwin Rd.). Based on that evaluation, the draft study recommends improvements at major intersections and other locations along the corridor. For this study, SMPDC has worked closely with the Town and MaineDOT. A brief presentation will be provided by the study consultant at the beginning of the meeting, but residents are invited to drop in (or Zoom in) at any time between 4:00 to 6:00pm to learn more.

The draft report on walking and bicycling is based on input collected by residents this spring and summer. Town staff also walked the corridors that received the most public comments in order to assess existing conditions along the road.

We are interested in your feedback on each of these efforts. For questions or more information, including Zoom login details, contact Jeff Brubaker, Town Planner, at planner@eliotme.org or 439-1817 ext. 112.
