Eliot's Salt & Sand Project for the Older Adults in the Community

Pine Trees

This project is to focus on the older adults in our community that live on their own to provide sand/salt for their walkways and help lower the risk of falls during the winter months.

The goal is to have the resident contact Amanda Ouellette at Meals on Wheels to let know they need sand and salt delivered to them. The address will then be forwarded to the Highway Department who will fill the buckets.  Between collaboration with Eliot Fire Department and Highway Dept., buckets will be delivered to the resident.  When the residents bucket runs low, the resident can call Amanda again, the process starts all over. Pet safe bags are available as well.

This is not a shoveling the walkway project, it is sand and salt delivery only. Amanda can certainly help the resident by finding resources for that.

Any questions or know of any Older Adults in the community who would benefit from this please reach out to Amanda at 207-475-7399
