Town Treasurer (Job Description)
The Town of Eliot, ME is seeking a qualified financial professional to fill the critical position of Treasurer. This fulltime position performs highly responsible administrative and technical work including maintaining the fiscal records and financial systems of the town; handling all internal and external financial reporting requirements, assisting the Town Manager with maintaining human resource records and benefit administration. The Town, with an average of 52 full and part time employees, maintains an annual operating budget of approximately $17.9 million, including schools.
The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of fund accounting, preferably in a municipal setting. Associates degree or degree from a technical college in Business Administration or accounting, three to five years’ experience in public finance or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
