Flag Disposal (Worn Flags)

Worn Flag Drop Box Now at the Eliot Transfer Station & Recycle Center

The VFW post 9394 of Kittery-Eliot has been working with the Boy Scouts of Kittery over the course of the Winter on a Flag Recovery container for American flags to be put into.

This was an Eagle Scout program which was created by Howard Chandler Scully III. He felt it was important for the citizens to have proper place to put worn and torn symbols of our country for proper retirement.

The project has been completed  and troop 307 has donated a container to Eliot Recycling Center, which has a huge success in collecting the flags. The VFW and Boy Scouts will sort them by materials and hold a Flag retirement ceremony. After their retirement, the remains will be buried.
