Roads Posted for Heavy Loads, Winter Reminders / Parking Ban Info

Roads Closed to Heavy Loads:
The Town of Eliot has authorized the closing of all town ways to any non-exempt vehicle or combination of vehicles beginning Wednesday, February 14th, 2018 and will remain closed until further notice.

Home Heating Fuel Delivery Trucks and Solid Waste Collection Trucks are exempt from Posted Road Regulations.
For special circumstances such as necessary work or deliveries, permits can be obtained from Joel Moulton, Public Works Director.
For further information please contact the Eliot Public Works Department at 439-9451.

Winter Reminder:
Maine Statute 29-A Chapter 21 Subchapter 2 prohibits placing substance in a public way: A person may not place and allow to remain on a public way, snow or slush that has not accumulated there naturally. This means that you cannot plow snow from your driveway or yard onto or across a public way. Pushing snow to the side of the roadway and leaving it there is likewise prohibited. Driveway plowing should start from the roadway, with snow plowed to a designated spot on your property.

Winter Parking Ban:
Please be advised that the Town of Eliot has a parking ban in effect from November 1st through April 1st prohibiting vehicles from being parked on all public ways. This helps the Highway Crews to effectively perform winter maintenance on our roadways.
