The New England Cottontail is our region’s only native cottontail rabbit. Historically, it has thrived throughout New England; however, over the past 50 years, its habitat has shrunk and cottontail populations have declined.  The Eliot Conservation Commission (ECC) is pleased to announce that Jeffry Tash, New England Cottontail Habitat Restoration Coordinator, will be attending the September 5th ECC Meeting to talk about past, present and future conservation efforts that benefit the New England cottontail and other young forest dependent species.  Please join us to learn how you can participate in this exciting conservation effort!  (ECC Meeting: 7 pm, September 5th (Wednesday) at the Eliot Town Office).
